August 14, 2009: Sioux Falls to the Badlands

On Friday, we made it to Badlands National Park. The landscape was like nothing we have ever seen. We went from hours (and hours) of corn and soybean fields to an eerie, lunar landscape. This was our first night of camping on our trip, and it ended up being a little stressful. It was rainy and windy and difficult to boil a pot of water on the Coleman stove. We were pretty annoyed, but after the rain passed, we were able to see a double rainbow. We were hoping it was a sign of good things (and weather) to come.
